First Update of the New Year!!

Hello to Everyone, Happy 2010!

I haven't updated since Christmas, so I'll start there. Our Christmas was a little chaotic, unconventional, and not the most desirable, but it was still amazing. For the first time, ever, we didn't travel, at all. We weren't able to travel to Lubbock or Amarillo to see extended family. I had to work Christmas Eve night, and Randy had to work Christmas Eve day, so traveling wasn't very convenient. Our original plan was to stay here and spend time with Randy's family, and my mom and Bob were going to come down on the Wednesday before and be here all weekend. The only thing that I can say to explain that, is BLIZZARD! We had a winter storm move in to the area and it caused pure chaos on Christmas Eve. It started snowing Christmas Eve morning and we got 15 inches by 4 pm. It had also rained hard, and sleeted before the snow fell so that made for slippery roads.

My plan to work Christmas Eve from 6 pm until 6 am Christmas morning, and home in time for Aniston to wake up, turned into a LOT longer. I went in early at 3 pm on Christmas eve so that the guy working could get home, 20 miles north, before the storm got tooo bad. Overnight the conditions got so bad that hundreds of people were stranded on highways all around the area. And, unlucky for me, my relief was one of those people stranded. By law, I couldn't leave until she got there, so I stayed. I ended up working until 4 pm Christmas Day. I missed Santa, Aniston opening her presents, Christmas breakfast... everything. Fortunately, I have a sweet precious husband and Aniston has an amazing Daddy that was able to pick up and make her Christmas morning just as special and magical. He videoed every step, so I got to watch it. He also saved a few presents for her to open once I made it home.

Here is a link to a news story about the highways... its just unreal!!

My mom also got stranded in Amarillo, and never made it here for the weekend. We had big plans to celebrate her 50th birthday with her also, which both were postponed. We are having a big celebration in Amarillo for her, so we'll do our Christmas then.

One positive note about our chaotic Christmas was that we were by ourselves. We spent a lot of time, just the three of us, enjoying each other. Usually the holidays are so stressful, and its hard to stop and enjoy the small things. GOD has blessed us so richly with one another, and we really noticed that this year.

I will add pictures and videos on another post. The server isn't cooperating....

God Bless, Love to all, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
