We spent Easter weekend with Dad and Autumn and Kenzy this year. This was the first visit with them since Mal's wedding in October 2009. The visit was long overdue and very nice. I was excited for them to see and visit with Aniston. Her funny little personality is worth getting to know. Of course, just like any visit, it went by way too fast!
This trip was big for us for many reasons. It was our first visit with them in a while, like I said. It was also our first trip as a family of four! I've been to Amarillo a few times since L was born, but Daddy couldn't go. I must say, it is definitely easier with Daddy there! It was also our first time to stay in a hotel with a baby. Of course we don't go many places, and we for sure don't stay in hotels much at all. I don't remember ever staying in a hotel when Aniston was a baby. I think the first time was when she was 4! It was pretty interesting, but much easier than I thought it would be! The room they put us in was SO cool! It was like an apartment. Mal and Brennon had a room and bathroom, and we had a room and bathroom, then we shared a living room and full kitchen. It even had appliances and silverware! I know I'm a small town, never been many places kinda girl, but this was cool! Aniston got to sleep on the pull out couch bed and she thought this was VERY cool! I really thought she would lay there a little while then end up in our bed, but she didn't... she stayed there all night, both nights! We got into Carrolton on Friday afternoon, and did some shopping, eating, and visiting. We took the kids down the trail to a neighborhood park to let them play. Autumn's parents, sister and kids were there too, so the kids had a blast playing. We also watched the Rangers game. Randy loves that my Dad is a sports fan, so he can be sure and see the game if it's on.
On Saturday, after breakfast, we went to Dad & Autumn's house for an Easter Egg Hunt. They had the eggs hidden by the time we got there, so the kids were ready to hunt! They had a blast, and got lots of fun stuff, and MONEY! Aniston is still going through her bag of loot, and she "counts" her money anytime she gets a chance. She says she's saving up for a special toy.
On Saturday for lunch we had Chicken Strips and French Fries. I think it was called Cane's Chicken. I just know they were delish! The sauce they came with was amazing! We also had some cupcakes. I'm sure you are thinking.. whatever, a cupcake is just like any other cupcake! No, not even close! These cupcakes were the most amazing creation I've ever tasted. I actually dream about them...kidding, but my mouth salivates just thinking about them! Here is her website... http://www.sugarqueencupcakes.com/ We also had Papsitos Mexican food for dinner, and I'll be honest.. a few more cupcakes! As you can see, the weekend was a diet kill, but worth every last cupcake crumb.
On Sunday, we met Val, Nathan and Lindsey for lunch a Blue Mesa Grill in Addison. I'd never been, but it was amazing. They had a brunch buffet with everything you can imagine to eat... The omelets were amazing, and they had a thing called a "black bean adobe pie" that will make you lick your lips! It was SO good! I wanna go back just for that! It was so great to see them, as always! Love them!
We had a really great weekend, and can't wait to go again! I have hundreds of pictures from the weekend, but here are a few of my favorites!
The kids loved the pond. Aniston only got in trouble once for splashing in the water! I guess that's ok since we were there all weekend! :)
