Meet the Teacher

The time has finally come. SCHOOL IS STARTING!

We are SO excited in our house! School supplies were bought weeks ago, school clothes are hanging in Aniston's closet, we took her new Toms out of the box and put them on the shelf, we got her hair cut (big girl style), and we've even been practicing a "school night schedule".

Aunt Mal watches the girls in the evenings when our schedules overlap. I've always hated this for only one reason. I've always felt so guilty that I'm not the one to do the evening routine. I feel it's my job to feed, bathe, read to, and soothe my babies. Not Aunt Mal, Not Daddy... ME! So, my way to fix this and make myself feel like I'm not SUCH a horrible working mom is to have Mal come to the house and watch the girls. That way the feeding, bathing, homeworking, resting, sleeping, and normal evening things can happen at our house. This also helps daddy out a great deal. Mal is a second mom the my girls so she can do all things just as great. Hopefully bedtime can be 8:30 instead of 10:30... I can dream, right?

Any who... Tonight was Meet the Teacher. Aniston's teacher is Mrs. Griffith. Aniston has a hard time pronouncing it completely. She says Mrs. Griffiss. She knows. She told me she needs to "praftice".

I am so in love with ALL things Kindergarten.

I love West Foundation.

I love Mrs. Griffith.

I love the look of amazement, pride, excitement, nervousness, mystery, and anticipation in Aniston's face and her attitude. For being such an outgoing, personable, sweet, and talkative child, she sure has a shy bone. She will duck away, hide behind me, and clam up if she is the center of attention. She did, however, warm up to Mrs. Griffith very quickly.

We started the night off waiting outside (in 108 degree heat) for them to open the doors of the school. I only cared because I was showered, dressed, full makeup and fixed hair, ready for work. And, did I mention I was wearing black scrubs. OUCH! So, we made it inside, and back to the KPOD. We found Aniston's teacher's name on the wall. Then we went into the "capateria" for an announcement. The teachers all introduced themselves and went over some general information. When Mrs. Griffith was introduced Aniston shrugged her shoulders, smiled her big smile and winked at me.

We finally made it to the room. She's in K2.

Once we said hi to Mrs. Griffith and mommy snapped a picture...

...she made it to her desk. She loved seeing her name written.

Her favorite part was the tray for her supplies. She is SO my child!

My big girl...

She was determined to put all her supplies IN her tray ON her desk. She worked and worked to get them stacked pretty and neatly. "It's important to be neat in Kindergarten, Mommy!"

She also loved her "cubby".

I had to grab a picture of me with my sweetie!

Of course the little social butterfly made quick friends. I sure hope she doesn't think Kindergarten is all about playing. This cutie was a little sister of one of the boys in her class. Her name was Bree and Aniston called her Breeze... REALLY?
One of the cutest things was how Aniston LOVED seeing her name written on things. She felt so special. She would point it out to me like she was famous.

Here she is finding her card on the attendance board.

I know I have said this a ton but I am so excited for her to start school. I'm excited for all of us. I honestly think she has been bored the last few months. She has been getting in trouble more, digressing in age and acting a little bratty. People say it's because of her new baby sister, but COME ON. She's 8 months old.... I don't buy it. I really think it's because she needs more structure, adventure, challenge, excitement, and more interaction with kids her age. She spends a lot of time with me and her baby sister, kids at daycare that are either younger than her or older than her. So, she acts both too old and too young for her age. I don't know.. I probably sound crazy, and I know I'm no Dr.Phil.. I'm just a "breathing nurse" as she calls it.

I CAN.NOT.WAIT.FOR.MONDAY!

Good luck to all those kiddos, parents and teachers starting school!

What an adorable haircut. I'm so glad she's excited, and I hope and pray she has a fabulous year. Kinder is soooo important for setting the stage, and it looks like it's going to be great for Aniston. BTW: Landrie will kill you one day for posting that pic! :)
