Tonsillectomy Time

Aniston had her tonsils out on Thursday. She did really well the day of the surgery and the day after. The next day and since then has been awful! She's been really crabby, hard to deal with and impossible to get to take medicine!

Here are some pictures from the big event..

Getting checked in

In her room and waiting.. watching Mickey Mouse playhouse

With mommy before they took her back and after the "calming" medicine. This was the only time she cried because they gave her a shot in her leg!

After surgery and getting some oxygen.

On the way home

At Home, relaxing and enjoying her pain meds!

Playing with her balloons that Poppy and Autie sent her! She was obsessed with them. She wouldn't leave them alone..

Finally eating, she chose oatmeal!

All set up with her books, art stuff, juice and milkshake. Rough life huh!

She fell asleep with her balloons tied to her waist.

She's doing better at everything as each day goes on. Getting her to take her medicine has been the biggest stress. She'll take the Motrin or Tylenol, but the prescription pain med that she needs to take at night... that is different. It has a menthol effect that makes her mouth get "hot" so she freaks. It takes about an hour to get her to take the whole teaspoon. She babies it and sips it a tiny bit at a time. She just doesn't get it that it is way easier to just down it. Last night at Mal's we finally got her to take it by "calling" Dr. Singleton. Randy pretended to have him on his phone and he was waiting to hear that she took it before he made her go to the hospital to get a shot. Once he was "on the phone" it only took about 5 minutes for her to take it. Tonight, we used this tactic again and she took it in about 5 minutes. Hopefully, she won't have to take it much longer because it is just so stressful! Another thing we can't believe is how weird her voice is and how bad her breath smells. I guess this is part of the healing process, but it's awful! Mal said she remembers this from when she had hers done. This wasn't on the paper they sent home with her...... We've tried telling her and she just doesn't understand to stay back! We've tried brushing her teeth and gargling, gum, candy.. everything and nothing helps. Only time will make it go away, I guess.

She is doing really well and I'm glad we have this over with so we won't have to worry about getting sick anymore! She'll be home with me all week, which we will both enjoy!
