Happy CHRISTmas Day Fourteen

Today, the thing about CHRISTmas that makes us happy is Suzie. She is our Elf on the Shelf. Aniston's Poppy and Autie sent it to her and we opened it Tuesday, so she has spent two nights in our house.

If you don't know how the story goes, because I had no clue. I saw a post on a friends blog about an elf they had, but didn't realize what it was. Suzie is a helper elf. We opened the box, read the book, named her and dressed her. We put her on the china hutch for her first seat. She is to sit in her place and watch over Aniston. She is magical, and comes to life while we're sleeping to fly to the North Pole and report to Santa about how Aniston has acted. She is not to be moved or touched because it takes her magic away.

When we first opened the elf, it was fun. Aniston thought it was another toy to play with.

Then, once we read the story, twice, and she realized she couldn't touch it anymore.. She had a meltdown. She was broken hearted! She cried huge tears and just didn't understand! We read the book a third time and she was finally getting the point.

P & A also sent an activity book with games, and lots of stickers that kept her occupied and took her attention off of the devastation of having to leave Suzie on the shelf.

Here she is the first day on the china hutch...

The next morning she was on the shelf in the kitchen over the sink and by the window. Aniston said she must have flown threw the window...

And, this morning she decided to take a seat on top of our CHRISTmas tree! Aniston said "it's a good thing she's little or she would have knocked it over!

It is a great source of excitement every morning! Also, it really made a difference in how Aniston was acting last night. She was in such a happy mood and so sweet. She helped me unload the dishwasher and reload what she could. She also set the table herself and filled our drink glasses with ice.. and water for Uncle Brennon! Hopefully, this isn't a coincidence and it will continue! Even if it is only for another 11 days... I'll take all the help I can get right now!

So, thank you to Poppy and Autie for the adorable and helpful Suzie!
