Happy CHRISTmas Day Seven

Today, the thing about the CHRISTmas season that makes us so happy is the spirit. I love the bell ringing, the increased attention paid to being charitable, the concentration on HIM and the reason for the season. It honestly does put a pep in my step to be out and about during this time of year.

Aniston and I were walking into Hobby Lobby and she loves giving money to the Salvation Army bell ringer. She asked me what the money was for and I told her it was for people who didn't have money for toys and gifts for CHRISTmas. Her reply, well then I need more money because toys cost way more than this. So, without even hesitating, I got my wallet back out and gave her the last three dollar bills I had. She was OVER JOYED! The look of happiness and  thrill about giving was awesome. After she folded each dollar and slipped into the red bucket, she replied to the man "Merry Christmas", turned to me and gave me a wink. I know child, you're awesome!

She asked me when we made it past the second doors, "don't you think that is what Jesus would want me to do to be nice". Mommy's response... "Yes, giving is always the best thing to do. Doesn't it make you feel so awesome to give to other people!"... after some thought, "Well, yes, it is great because it will sure make them smile. And, I hope all the people want to give money to make me smile too..." AHHH... so close! My answer to her.. those who give will receive! She was SO excited to know that! I just really do hope that her intentions continue to be the giving and not the receiving. We'll have to keep working on that one!

I love the spirit this season puts in peoples heart. I hate it when we fall into a rushed, stressed and frantic holiday mood. I do it every year, and I'm determined not to this year. We are getting the best gift we will ever get this year. Our Landrie is truly going to be our Christmas miracle and we are so blessed and thankful!
