Today, I am thankful for togetherness. I just absolutely love having people at our house, hosting a great meal, and just being together. Thanksgiving Day has always been really special for me. As a kid I can remember getting together with family, especially with the LaGrones. I am very fond of a traditional and formal Thanksgiving dinner. The table set so pretty, the traditional food, and the family. I can remember several Thanksgiving get-togethers when I was younger. Most of them involve Ginger and her rolls. I love them, and there is nothing better! All the turkey and dressing I eat is compared to Mammaw's.
This year, we had our first Thanksgiving at our new house, in our first actual dining room, and at our first dining room table, that fit everyone! I know some people will think it's silly, but it has been a dream of mine, since being grown, to have a formal dinner at our house. When we were looking at houses to buy, and found this one, we LOVED the dining room/kitchen area. I knew it would soon house a beautiful dining room set one day! When Mal went with me to see our house, with our Realtor, the first thing she said when she turned the corner into the dining room, she said "Thanksgiving at your house!". And we did! Mom and Bob, Mal and Brennon, Randy, Me, and Aniston had a great lunch. It was such an amazing day!
Mom and Mal fixed a fabulous lunch, and it was SO good. The dressing was great, the potatoes were fabulous, and I loved the turkey that Brennon fixed. The most amazing thing of the day was the pie. Mal made a "Ches Bostick" homemade chocolate pie. She nailed it! It was, hands down, the best chocolate pie I've ever had! This is saying a lot.. I've had a few pieces of chocolate pie in my life! It's a Bostick family thing!
I pulled the pregnancy card and did nothing. I relaxed on the couch while they cooked and worked up a sweat. We pigged out, then I went to bed to sleep before work while they cleaned. Lame, I know! Next year, I'll have to pay them back and work my rear off!
Having this wonderful family togetherness was great because my life is about to get a little chaotic. Our Christmas won't be anything close to traditional or normal. We'll probably be lucky to have a home cooked meal for Christmas this year with a 5 day old baby! It will however, trump any Christmas to date, I feel sure!
