Today, I am thankful for the modern world we live in. More specifically, Technology!
As I sit here at work and type this, on my laptop. I'm listening to some tunes from the iPod on my iPhone. I can hear the beeping of IV pumps, the clicking of blood pressure machines, and the cycling of feeding pumps. Normally, on a busier day, I would hear the cycling of a ventilator. All modern healthcare inventions that make our time a fascinating one. Besides my wonderful healthcare world, in which I am so devoted to, my personal life is blessed by technology.
My day goes as this.... I sleep and wake up to the sound of the alarm from my iPhone. I shower under a fancy rain head shower head my hubs installed with his power tools. I blow dry and straighten my hair, both obviously using electricity. I brush my teeth with a fancy toothbrush and water, both which I'm a huge fan of. I put on my clothes, which were washed and dried and fluffed in my pretty new LG - HE washer and dryers. I watch some TV, check my bank accounts, and read the news (from the computer of course), catch up on Facebook and blogs, check my emails, and occasionally read a gossip magazine (on the computer). I drive to work in my fancy car, and spend most of my day on my iPhone doing all of the above! Honestly, and I know it sounds ridiculous, I can't imagine life without technology. I remember the first time we got a computer, and the internet. I was a junior in high school. It was a big deal! We had SLOW dial-up internet, and it was AWESOME! We would AIM each other for hours. Now days, there is the world of Facebook. I love being able to keep up with old and new friends, family I never get to see, and share stories and pictures with each other.
I can't imagine what the Technology world with hold for Aniston and Landrie in the years to come, but atleast I know they'll be able to handle it. Aniston can already work my iPhone better than her daddy, and take pictures on my camera better than her Nana. She can play her pbs.com games online like a pro, and even print pictures to color. Last week, while home with me one day, she was playing a JumpStart game on the computer that I bought her. It was a color/alphabet/spelling game that involved letters and matching. I was in the kitchen and she came into the room to get more drink.. she said, "Mommy did you know stop signs are red and S-T-O-P spells stop!" Sure did baby, you're amazing!
